About WUI data

WUI flag comes from the USFA Wildland Urban Interface Communities dataset — a federal list of municipalities at heightened wildfire risk because of their proximity to flammable vegetation. The list includes both interface communities (clear edge between built-up and wildland) and intermix communities (homes and wildland mixed together). Incident counts and losses are NFIRS-sourced for 2025. Note: this list is a national snapshot — local risk varies by parcel and is best understood through FEMA's National Risk Index.
